HELPFUL TIPS FOR REDUCING POWER CONSUMPTION

Nobody likes a surprise in the electric bill. Not only is it a weight on your wallet but it is also a burden on the longevity of the Earth. We must strive to minimize our power consumption not only because it is financially responsible, but also environmentally accountable too. Here are some small tips for reducing your power consumption:

 1. Invest in new, more modern appliances

This may sound very materialistic, but newer technologies are more efficient as compared to old ones. This is an investment that will save you a lot of money and consume less energy too.

 2. Pre-plan your laundry day

Map out how you’re going to do laundry for the week. It is important that you are efficient and minimize the number of times that your washing machine is going to run.

 3. Utilize the outside cold/heat

Sometimes the air conditioner can be substituted by the weather itself. If the day seems hot, open the windows, maximize ventilation and wear thin clothes so that the AC does not need to run the whole day.

 4. Also utilize the light from the sun

During the day, the lights don’t have to be turned on. The light from the sun may be enough to illuminate the house for the duration of the day. Try to strategically place curtains and mirrors to maximize the light that goes around.

 5. Fix broken appliances/faucets

Remove unnecessary fees from broken faucets, bulbs, or appliances that take up more power/water than it needs to.
